HomeKit invitation failure

I've got homekit working on my devices. I invited my wife - the notification pops up, but when we go into the home app, and homes, what's there is "My Home (Guest)" with a spinning wheel.

On her iPad, it has the correct home name, on her iPhone is has the default name - both as Guest and both with the spinning wheel.

I have tried:

1) Canceling the invitation

2) delete the spinning home

3) Reset her icloud keychain

4) hard device reset

5) restore the device from backup (Apple's typical default troubleshooting step).

The last resort is to try setting up the device as a new device - except that I'm 75% sure this is borked data in her iCloud account. I've already wasted a day on #5, and don't want to go down the new device road if I can avoid it.

Any ideas?

[I'm getting *really* sick of 'restore from backup' and 'setup as new device' as the sole troubleshooting options apple provides. If iOS is that fragile, then they need to spend some of their billions on a serious rearchitecture]

As I was concerned, I have updated 3 phones to 11.2.1 and updated appletv to latest version. Still same error that email address is not registered. I have tried everything I have found out there: remove everyone (I had my son added and working) and then tried to add him and my wife and then could not add either; tried to add me from my wife or sons device - same error; tried complete rebuild of the Home. The crazy thing is that the error pops up so fast that I find it hard to believe that it is even communicating to a server. This issue is the first time I have used these apple forums - is it normal that Apple does not actually respond to any of this?

I believe it's still an iCloud issue. Similar experience with August lock. I can finally now add my wife though HomeKit although HomeKit only recognizes her @me account as a legit one even though that's not her authorized account associated with the Apple universe of services she's registered with.

So the August apps works manually, and automatically when she arrives home yet Siri says "sorry"... blah blah... but works fine for me...

Unfortunately I can't invite my family 😟

On my wife's phone system is up to date (mine as well) and every thing else (connected with iCloud) works properly.

I can see address of my friend in yellow (probably can invite him) but not my wife's and son's address (grey) and doesn't work.

Do you have any other advice than update ?
