iMovie Problems since macOS Sierra upgrade

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me here because I am starting to get really frustrated.

I have a MacBook Pro and yesterday I upgraded to macOS Sierra which I now regret because when I wanted to work with iMovie today it no longer worked how it used to. I make youTube videos for a living and I am already a day behind my uploading schedule because of this problem. Basically what is going on is that when I imported my video files from my SD Card into iMovie the files looked normal, however when I put them in a project and started playing them I noticed that the color was way off, it almost looks like there is a foggy overlay. At first I thought maybe my DSLR Camera broke and checked the files on the SD Card (played the files in Quicktime) but they look perfectly normal and how they should look, iMovie for some reason changes them... I have no idea how to fix this problem because I am not even sure what the problem really is. Can someone please help me?

One advice (maybe known for you): Check your iMovie Projects and iMovie Events forlders before updates. If there are files UpdatedToiMovie10, delete them. Otherwise iMovie 10 consider that everything is taken over from v9 and states iMovie could not find any projects or events to update. If the fileUpdatedToiMovie10 is missing, iMovie 10 takes over all Projects and Events fromiMovie ProjectsandiMovie Eventsfolders.

By deleting mentioned files you can to move project from v9 to v10 as many times as you need. If you want, you can develope your projects in v9 and render from v10.

I understand that migration to new versions are sometimes painful, but we cannot run old versions forever.

Well Jan,

you helped a lot... actually i killed those files, and i was able to import the old events and project files into v10. Seemed fine, but stabilisation option not owrks in v10 or what? it just freezed the software any time i tried to ad some stabilization for the squeze clips. Anyway I always wanted to move on to Final Cut Pro, so why not now? When the Earth is tremble 🙂 So, I checked it and it is possible to move forward the whole event and project to FCP, that is much better software than imovie... Now I have to find some tutorials to learn really really fast to operate my projects 🙂

So, your comment was useful, it made me looking around to find some solutions and not giving up!

Thx!

I have the same problem with the green screen. I updated to Sierra and IMovie updated itself to 10.1.4. I have never had this problem with any versions before. I have tried just about everything except reinstall an older operating system. I opened an older (9.0) version of Imovie and still had the random green screens. I emptied libraries (suggested by another user). I totally started over and made my movie again. I exported in different settings, etc. Nothing has helped. My movie was totally made of old photographs and was intended to be a Christmas gift, but is not fit to give because of the random green screens instead of some of the photos. I don't know the fix but wondering if it is the Sierra because I have tried about everything else.
