The airplay and airdrop buttons take up too much space in the control center. This space would be more useful if it was the music app. I do not currently have any use for airplay or air drop and would really like to be able to hide these buttons.

Which is fine. But for something like that quick access control center, would it not make sense for users to decide for themselves which options are or are not there?

Exactly, people are happy with hiding unnessacary clutter.
Which is why we are asking for a way to hide these buttons that are not used by everyone.
Lots of people wanted to remove them to free up memory (even though they take up very little). Those people may be less happy with the change.
