How to get artist artwork, in iTunes 12?
Windows 10, null

Well, for starters it's not a feature, when that so-called "feature" doesn't work.
It doesn't get artist images from the store, only a few. I have several purchases which does not generate the artist artwork.
So again, it's bugged! Simple as that.
I spoke to iTunes support today (Kelvin).
He looked this problem up and found that this is a new FEATURE of iTunes 12.5.
He said there was no way to change this - reverting to an older version is not recommended and won't work if your iphone/ipad has ios version 10.
I asked how deleting 95% of my Artist artwork could be called a feature and he could not help me.
His only suggestion was to hope that they might change this feature in newer versions of iTunes.
Or some third party software might be able to change it.
I personally wonder if this might be part of their push to change people to Apple Music subscriptions.
New iPad and New iPhone 7 Plus on order - and yet very disappointed.
Funny how the call it "a feature", when in fact it's a bug!
P***es me off!
Nothing has been "deleted". Previous versions of iTunes displayed an image in Artist view derived from the album artwork associated with an artist. iTunes 12.5.1 has replaced this by displaying images pulled from the iTunes store for artists that have one or more items purchased from the store. I rarely, if ever, use Artist view so this doesn't affect me though I can see that this may an irritation for others. However, since you can still organize your library, play music from it, and sync content to iDevices its definitely not a "show stopper".
Why do you think its a "bug"? I don't see anything to indicate that this is anything other than an intentional change on Apple's part, i.e., to derive artist images from the Store, based on purchases, rather than reusing album artwork images.
Indeed - the latest version of iTunes seems to be pulling in more artist images than before, in my case about 10%, It looks like "popular, mainstream" artists are being matched from somewhere, though its not very good at handling name variations. For example, there's an image for Neil Young but not one for Neil Young & Crazy Horse.
Roughly 20% of the artists in my library show artwork despite having *never* purchased from the store, so there's more to it than that.
