Java issues in Sierra

I recently installed Sierra OS and keep getting the pop up message, "To use the "Java" command-line tool you need to install a JDK." I have installed the program multiple times through the provided link and restarted my computer to reboot. The message continues to appear. How do I resolve this issue?

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12)
