How To Unlock iPhone 6 Plus Activation Lock

I cannot use my iPhone because of an Activation Lock problem that began this morning. It requests my Apple ID and Password used to set up iCloud. I have reset my Apple ID password many times, accessed my Apple ID page, and received email reporting that the reset is successful. But when I input the latest reset password in the activation lock page on my iPhone, no success. I have noticed that the Apple ID example is "example@icloud.com." Must my Apple ID include "icloud". My current ID does not include "icloud".

According to my iPhone Activation Help a password is required because "its owner has used Find My iPhone to link it to their Apple ID. If this is your device, enter the Apple ID and password you used to set up iCloud." I have not used Find My iPhone.

It is my iPhone. Activation Help continues to say, "enter the Apple ID and password you used to set up iCloud." My iCloud ID is not the same as my Apple ID. Can I reset or create my iCloud and password so that I can use it like an Apple ID and password? Again, I cannot use my iPhone. It is the only phone I have until I can activate it.

I purchased the iPhone not long ago. I do not have the iOS version.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Did you buy the phone used? If so, contact whoever you got it from. Only the owner of the account that was used to sign into iCloud and turn on Find My iPhone can remove the activation lock. It's an anti-theft measure to render a lost or stolen device useless to anyone other than the rightful owner.

The passcode you use to unlock the phone is not really relevant to the Activation lock.

Did you purchase the phone new from Apple or an authorized reseller? If so, take the phone and proof of purchase to Apple and they should be able to assist you. If you are not the original owner, you will need to contact the original owner and have them remove the phone from their account.

Hello,

I have been using a 4-digit passcode to open my iPhone. Of course now I cannot get beyond submitting the passcode. The Activation Lock error message is the first I've received. The Apple ID I been using unsuccessfully to unlock the activation lock does not include iCloud the way the example id does in my iPhone Activation Help. Can I reset my Apple ID to include iCloud?
