I've always had right click disabled (like to be able use the whole trackpad) and been used to use ctrl+click instead.
Now with MacOS Sierra I no longer am able to do this, also I'm not able to disable the trackpad when I use an eternal mouse (magic mouse) ...
Is MacOS Sierra broken ??
System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click > Secondary Click = "uncheck"
Sadly that option is no longer there ... looks like apple removed it with the latest version of the OS 😟
Looks like its and old problem which has come back: Secondary click options missing in Lion
So here is the wierd thing, I used defaults write to disable it (defaults write com.apple.AppleMultitouchTrackpad enableSecondaryClick -bool NO) which did not work.
So in System Preferences > Trackpad > Point & Click I disabled "Tap to Click" which only let you "click" to click, then enabled it again, and now it works....
Something in 10.12 is not really working that great ....
Both settings are still there
Uncheck secondary click
Check Ignore built-in…
disable trackpad right click
