Transfering Notes
Hey all,
I am currently moving all my data from my old MacBook Air to my new MacBoon Pro, and everything went very smooth and was successful. With one exception, my notes.
I have hundreds of notes in the notes app on my MacBook Air. The notes are all "On My Mac", not in the cloud, so I thought I just move them into the cloud and get them like that on my new MacBook.
My new MacBook is connected to the cloud, and is happily sharing the notes with my iPhone and iPad, that all works perfectly.
But when I now tried to activate notes in iCloud on my old MacBook Air, the problem begins. It is not showing the structure for iCloud notes and On My Mac notes, but it is not downloading/synching the notes with the cloud. When I add a note to the iCloud on the MacBook Air it is not appearing on any other device. When I add a note on my new MacBook, iPhone or iPad it is showing up on the two other devices. It almost seems as there are two parallel clouds, one which the old MacBook Air is using, and one which the new MacBook and my mobile devices use, even though they are all connected to the same account.
I assume that this might have something to do with the different versions, as the old MacBook is using notes 3.3, while the new one is using 4.2. Is 3.3 maybe not working with the cloud anymore? I did not find a way as well to update the notes app to a later version.
Using Yosemite 10.10.5
Any ideas / suggestions?
Is it maybe possible to copy the notes manually to the new mac? Not per copy and paste in the notes app, but by using the actual files?
Thank you!
