Apple Watch Activity Data using wrong Apple ID

Hi,

I have two apple ID's (one for business, one personal). I acquire more than a year ago an apple watch and I didn't realised it was using my phone iMessage ID so activity data got associated to my business account. I own a mac which I upgrade to Sierra and realised that I could not use the auto unlock feature since my watch was associate to my business ID and not my personal ID. What is the best way to transfer my watch from my professional ID to my personal ID without loosing the activity history? How can I transfer the activity history between my two accounts?

Thanks

Hi lecedre,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It looks like you want to change Apple IDs associated with your iPhone and Apple Watch and make sure your Activity history transfers over. We're happy to offer some assistance.

Your Activity and Health data are stored on your iPhone, so you can safely switch Apple IDs without losing your activity history. You can find steps to sign out of the various Apple services at Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .

If you start using your Apple Watch with another iPhone, you'll need to take additional steps to make sure your data transfers over at that point. Here's an article that goes over the process-- Switch your Apple Watch to a new iPhone .

Even if you're not planning on switching iPhones, you can back up your Apple Watch to keep your Activity and Health data safe. See
Back up your Apple Watch.
Sincerely.

Thanks but I don't want to change the apple id of the phone since it's my business phone. I think that now, you can set the apple id of the watch at the time you pair (I think it uses the iMessage one initially).

If I unpair the apple watch and pair it back, could I select the apple id then.

Would my activity data remain?

As I understand, one device is linked to only one Message account and the watch is linked to that account. But more and more user use iPhone with professional account (as apple push to access the business market) and those users may want to use a watch for our daily work but the activity data is related to your person and not your profession. I think my question is pointing a limit of the current solution. I do think apple should propose an activity account on the device like they do for iTunes and App Store. You can have a different account for what you purchase and what is used for messaging and the same should be done for the activity.

As I understand, for the moment, the activity data is only on the phone and not on iCloud, as soon as it will be there, the option to be able to select a proper account and not the default message account should be available. The constraint right now is that if you have a professional iPhone and an personal mac, you cannot use the watch to unlock the mac.
