macOS Sierra freeze on iMac late 2009 using Safari

Hey guys,

Since the installation of macOS Sierra on my iMac 27 inch late 2009, I'm experiencing freezes of the computer with the following symptoms:

- the freeze occurs when I scroll a webpage in Safari.

- The mouse cursor still moves but I can't click and manipulate the system ; the keyboard doesn't work, as well.

- A force reboot is mandatory to recover.

- I can establish a ssh connection from my MacBook to the iMac, suggesting that Darwin is still running well.

- The log indicates "userspace_watchdog_timeout.spin report for WindowServer version", suggesting that the problem is related to a crash of the WindowServer.

Somebody here with the same machine has the same problem?

Thanks!

VIN,iMac (27-inch Late 2009), macOS Sierra (10.12)

Hey guys,

I have a good news. I asked through my bug report when this problem is supposed to be fixed.

Bug report team told me that the bug is still under investigation BUT they say also that I should test this issue on macOS 10.12.5.

Hopefully, a fix will be proposed in the coming macOS 10.12.5 update. 🙂

Hello,

I have a simulier/the same experience from the first day using macOS Sierra on my iMac 27" late 2009. But I don't think is is caused by Safari. I did a couple of things to investigate the reasons but so far I haven't really found what is causing the freeze.

1) I already performed a hardware diagnosis using the AHT utility provided with the iMac: no hardware problems

2) I _was_ using "Hands Off!" in the past. It gave me a note about a kernel panic with the assumption it was caused by it. I've removed it completely: the freeze still exists two/three times a day

3) I've checked several logs looking for failures/errors related to the freeze and found several other failures for various software I've installed (e. g. Google updater, amazon music). After a complete removal, the problem still exists.

4) I was noted that there may be a problem with the updated bluetooth stack in Sierra (http://www.techradar.com/how-to/computing/macos-sierra-problems-here-s-how-to-fi x-the-most-common-issues-1329043). So I changed my apple bluetooth keyboard and mouse to a USB wired one: no change. The freeze still comping up also with wired keyboard an mouse

5) Deactivate and uninstall Adobe Flash: no changes freeze is still coming up randomly

Each time the freeze happened and e. g. iTunes or iPhone were running, these libraries went corrupt and got checked by a restart of iTunes/iPhoto. In addition to that the HDD sounds like writing an image or crash report on the disk but I don't know where I should looking for. Any idea?

If the screen got frozen I can still remote login to the system using SSH on a different mac connected over WIFI in my home network. Also shared drives/folder keeping available for other devices.

I'm very agree not to can trust on macOS Sierra on my iMac. I won't to make a fresh install without being sure this would solve the problems.

My configuration:
