whatsapp restore stuck at 99% and rebooting in loop

I Had the same issue

till i I just was about to delete my whatsapp and downloaded again without backup

here is how I solved ( but couldn't get the pic back )

after the whatsapp reminds 99% and stuck there.

go to setting/ iCloud/ turn off ur iClould

then open whatsapp again

the application will ask you that there is no iCloud available and will option you to start whatsapp without backup

just say say yes and skip this point.

Onice you open ur wasp will see ur chats all there

just no pic inside which I believe is better than losing ur chats too

Had the same problem. We made many tries with restoring from the iCloud (always stuck at 99%) and from the backup on the Mac.

After many tries we have the problem solved now.

Both iPhones had the same name.

I renamed both of them (iPhone settings/General/About/Name).

Deleted the WhatsApp App on the new iPhone.

Then made a backup of the old iPhone to a Mac (and to iCloud) with iTunes.

On the new iPhone: backup restored from the Mac with iTunes.

I don't know which step was essential. But with this sequence it worked out fine with our iPhone SE / iOS 10.

Ok I am upgrading from Iphone 6 to Iphone 7 and I had this problem at first.

I solved it by doing a full chat (including video) back up to iCloud on my Iphone 6 (old phone) first.

Than install whatsapp on my Iphone 7 (new phone) than whatsapp restore from iCloud.

bam! Its all good!!! I hope this help
