Normalize option in Functions is greyed out. Why?

You could also try....

highlight the track

hit cmd b to bounce in place

then see if all your menu items show up

What is likely happening is that the audio file is not a WAV, AIF, or CAF. It is likely an Mp3 or other format.

If you open up the project browser and look at the file type - see if it is an mp3 - if it is, these functions will not work and will be greyed out. The bounce in place will convert the file to whatever you have logics default set to (wav, aiff or caf).

Then it should work.

Make sure you have some audio selected. Those functions only work on selected audio.

If that doesn't make a difference, the audio file may be protected, or the track may be locked. If it is copy protection, you can't change that, you'll have rerecord the file (route the track to a second track, then record enable that second track, then record andf then use the recorded file instead of the original).

One reason for the Functions commands to be grayed out is that you don't have permission to those files on the Finder level.

Good point, because this seems to be the cure for 90% of "I can't do this" kind of question. But in this case it doesn't apply, because the Audio File Editor won't be available at all if Advanced Tools are disabled.

HHave you enabled advanced features in logic preferences?

I Just noticed up in my post above - it is a video (not a picture) you need to click on it for it to play.
