CD/DVD Drive--Not Reading(?)

Ever since I purchased my MacBook Pro, it has refused to load or play numerous audio cds (even undamaged ones) & software. Today, it refused to load my AppleCare CD!

Anyone know what's up with this?

It's not just Parallels! My drive started off by being intermittent, but now it's virtually dead, whether or not Parallels is running or even installed.

Have you guys been experiencing the "wake in bag"
problem, where your machine wakes with the lid
closed, and comes out scorching hot?

I'm having the same problem. It started first with not reading DVDs then CDs, even brand new ones. I've had this "wake in bag" problem and it also wakes every 50ish seconds when in sleep mode without external power. When it wakes I can hear what sounds like the eject mechanism. I think this waking problem was occurring before the DVD/CD drive problem. As a side note this also kills my battery life as it will never stay asleep. I also have the UJ-857 drive.
