Mac mini hdmi to vga monitor not working

Hi, i have mac mini late 2014 and a lenovo lcd monitor with vga adaptor i purchased a hdmi to vga connector but it is not supporting the display but it is working with other windows laptops display, kindly help me resolve this solution.

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

VGA is not supported from the HDMI Port and you need to use a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter in one of the Mac Mini's Thunderbolt Ports.

Just make sure that the Mini DisplayPort the VGA Adapter you choose is compatible with all Macs.
