Launchservicesd. issue

We understand that you have a process, “launchservciesd” in activity monitor that keeps your CPU around 30%.

We have a couple of different troubleshooting steps we would like you to work through in this situation.

First, try starting your computer in safe mode. After it has finished starting up in safe mode, you can restart the Mac as you normally would; this will start it back up in your normal user account. Test the issue again after you have completed this step.

If the issue continues after booting to safe mode, reset the System Management Controller on your Mac. The first article below explains this process.

HI, I have same problem that my CPU runs around 15% of this launchservicesd process.

This process keep my battery very hot and the power of battery drops very quick.

And, I also do the above two troubleshooting steps including reboot in safe mode and reset SMC, but it hasn't solved the problem.

Is there any other suggestion way to solve this issue?

I had the same problem and it turned out to be malware. I downloaded free anti-Malware software MalwareBytes ran the program and the problem is solved.

Hi andr3w6, thanks for your tip. Had the same problems and thought it was because of an OS Sierra beta release. Never thought my macbook would have been infected by malware, but after removing the malware problems seem to have disappeared (macbook no longer overheats so far). Thanks again!

Hi, I had this issue too which launchservicesd and loginwindows used up a lot of my CPU capacity, I downloaded the MalwareBytes and I solved my problem instantly. Thanks a lot for your information

I just did the same on my MacBook Air. Malwarebytes comes to the rescue again!
