How do I enable rich notifications for tvOS text entry from iPhone lock screen

I read an article today citing an iOS 10 tip that allows me to enable rich notifications for tvOS text entry from my iPhone's lock screen. They say,

The feature is enabled by default and can be configured in the iOS Settings app under Notifications > Apple TV Remote Keyboard. From here, users can opt to allow notifications, show alerts in notifications center, enable sounds, activate lock screen access and select their desired alert style.

My Apple TV 4 is updated to the latest tvOS. I also have the new Apple TV Remote installed on my iPhone running iOS 10.0.2, but on my iPhone in Settings→Notifications, there is no Apple TV Remote. What am I doing wrong?

Yep, the Apple TV remote app is looking funky on the iPad. (I have it installed on an iPad Air 2). Nevertheless, the rich notification works on the iPad flawlessly. Once I navigate to a text entry menu on the Apple TV, the notification pops up on my iPad and I can use the iPad keyboard for text entry.

As mentioned before that app does not come up under the notifications on my iPhone 6s, consequenly rich notifications don't appear on the iPhone.

(What's interesting is that the remote app works just fine on the iphone and controls the Apple TV without any problem when I want to use it as a Siri remote replacement.....)

Same here. I can use the Apple TV Remote app on my iPhone to control my Apple TV and input text, but I don't get the rich notifications and I still don't see "Apple TV Remote Keyboard" in Settings→Notifications.

Hi. I'm not sure, but I suspect that Apple TV and the iPhone may have to be logged in to the same iCloud account for these push notifications to work. It also requires a device that supports 3D touch, since that's required to respond to the notification. And Bluetooth must be enabled on the iPhone, see Enter text on your Apple TV (4th generation) - Apple Support.
