iOS 10 banner notifications not disappearing

many users are experiencing this same exact problem. it is a bug. unfortunately there is no fix yet.

As i scroll through Facebook I'm staring at this text BANNER that won't go away. From iOS 6-9 this has never happened, not once. Installed iOS 10 and it's been happening since day 1. I'm on 10.1 now and it still isn'f fixed..

And as you can see, this bug is not with messages, but with all banners. BANNERS are not working correctly. Apple needs to address this issue.

And here we have a calendar banner alert stuck on my screen.. This doesn't always happen, sometimes they behave properly. The problem started with iOS 10 and exists on ALL my devices running iOS 10, which is why this is a BUG and must be addressed by Apple.

Here is my iPad Air which was just factory restored with iTunes and updated to iOS 10.1.1, and the problem STILL exists.

When playing full screen video this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME. Today I discovered that if I don't dismiss this stuck banner on my iPad, the text alerts for this conversation completely stopped on my iPhone. The texts came through and i carried on the conversation, but with no alerts whatsoever. This is most definitely a bug introduced with iOS 10 and it is still not fixed as of 10.1.1. I have urged Apple to look at this thread and everyone else with this problem should do the same.

I've discovered the same issue where the banner doesn't always disappear of it's own accord and you have to swipe up for it to disappear. normally i would consider this a mild annoyance however Yesterday it was a more serious issue as a banner got stuck over maps whilst I was driving! I attempted to swipe up when was stationary in a queue of traffic, only to hit the alert and it took me to another app and out of maps! Traffic of course started moving again at this point! GGGGGRRRRRRRR.

Thankfully I wasn't on the motorway and had the chance a couple of miles down the road to pull into a little lane and park up so I could get the maps app back.

It would be good if you could have the option to turn off all alerts when using the maps app for driving directions. Perhaps this already exists, I'll have to google it.

I will be turning a lot of alert banners off and maybe just have them stack up in the notification centre, as in addition to the above issue, I loathe, waking my phone and having to wait for what seems an age, for a flurry of banners to flash up before I can access any apps located at the top of the screen.

Update: Apparently the 'do not disturb' function doesn't interfere with map functionality and stops alerts, so I will switch that on before using the map app in the car in future, at least until this freezing banner issue is resolved.

Yes I have had this same scenario happen to me. This issue is potentially dangerous to users and it needs to be corrected immediately but there's no way of knowing if anyone has even acknowledged the fact that the problem exists yet.

Have you contacted AppleCare or made a Genius Bar appointment? Have you restored your iPhone as a new device and run it for 24 hours to see if the problem stops?

Since this is not happening on all devices it is not a global bug and Apple will need to collect information from those that have the problem in order to sort the issue out.

In the meantime I would suggest turning off banner notifications that you don't need. You may also see if turning them off and then back on again for a particular app makes that app's banner notifications work properly thereafter.

I have tried cycling them off and on as well as done a full on factory restore, twice. However I REFUSE to disable a feature that has worked as promised for many years because it has been broken by what I may perceive as a bug in iOS 10. This is not an option, these features need to work as advertised.
