After a random reset, lock screen prompts for a 4 digit passcode instead of a 6 digit passcode

While using safari, my iPhone 6+ went black, got the spinning wheel and reset. After this reset my lock screen now prompts for a 4 digit passcode but I've been using a 6 digit code for some time now.

I have updated to the latest firmware 10.0.2. Luckily the lockscreen still accepts my finger prints. I've checked in setting/ touch ID & passcode to confirm that my 6 digit passcode is still saved and working. However I've check several times and the lock screen is still prompting for a 4 digit one. I've tried entering the 6 digit code but it doesn't accept it. Also I've tried my old 4 digit code that I used before a firmware update forced me to use a 6 digit code but that didn't work either. I'm worried that if I shutdown and restart the phone, I won't be able to unlock my phone since the finger print will be disabled.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I've read the article in the link but since I still have access to my phone by use of the finger print, I wasn't ready to wipe or restore from back up just yet. However, I have found a workaround for this particular bug. Originally I tried to change my 6 digit code to see if that would force the lock screen to recognize that a 6 digit code was in use, but that didn't not work.

The workaround was to change my passcode to a 4 digit code using the "passcode options" feature. The new 4 digit code was accepted at the lock screen. Then I was able to change back to a 6 digit code. The lock screen is now working correctly and prompting for a 6 digit code.

I was fortunate that my touch ID was still active at the time of this random reset/bug.
