Sierra Mail - Remove Attachments doesn't work!

To be very true I use IMAP account to delete any attachment I right click on it and delete , try in POP account , and regarding photos create a new folder on desktop and drag and drop the photos , or is there any options to create new smart mail box folder in pop account .

Yes I have the same problem and use both POP which does not have the option you showed but rather asks when you want to remove a copy from the server and IMap (for ICloud) which has the option you showed. I just tried sending a message to myself having ticked none in the download attachments pane but it didn't work. Thanks for the help though

Hi, I have updated to 10.12.1 - sorry but it did not help. I also have both Imap and POP accounts, when googling to see if I could get any help, mostly they seemed to recommend using only Imap accounts. That would be fine with only one user but is not the best solution if 3 different people are using your 3 connected computers at work. Today however for no reason that I can understand the delete attachment was active for all my messages in my sent folder and I was able to remove them. I have made absolutely no changes so I fail to understand why deleting suddenly worked. I tried moving some saved messages with their attachments back into the sent folder but it didn't work unfortunately. would be really interested to know if the same happens to you.

I receive my messages that have attachments as attachments (ie with the paperclip) not inline so that is not the problem because the delete attachments option is still always greyed out. I can only remove attachments that I have added from the sent folder. I cannot remove any that are sent to any of our accounts except the iCloud imap account. The problem looks like it is with our POP accounts. I tested sending the same attachment to our imap account and could delete it, I then send it to one of our POP accounts and the option to delete was not available. I bet Apple has just decided POP accounts are outdated so they no longer work properly! It would be nice if someone would confirm this!

I can remove attachments from messages received in my icloud account, but in my POP accounts.

Mind you, the attachments are removed from iCloud as well (which is to be expected, since that's how IMAP is supposed to work), so be careful what you remove is either unimportant or was really copied off somewhere else.

Thanks. We do not really want our attachments or our messages to be removed at the same time from all our devices, with 3 different users on our connected IMacs it would create problems which is why we don't want to switch to IMAP for all our accounts - assuming our server could actually provide them.

I have Sierra 10.12.1

This problem started with Sierra and I would really love to see which emails have attachments and I need to remove them after I have copied the ones I want to keep.

Attachments that were sent to me whiles using previous OS versions are still there and can still be Removed by the menu Message -> Remove Attachments.

Apple need to fix this!

I have reported the issue and hope we get an answer that isn't 'update to IMAP accounts'!

I have heard nothing from Apple Support and the problem persists. My mailboxes are being stuffed with unwanted attachments using up a lot of useful space - really frustrating. Has nobody got an answer to this???
