when i remove the iwatch from the cable the power off becomes active (white and orange color) but again no response when i hold it for the same aforementioned period.

If you have Night Stand enabled, pushing and holding the side button does nothing on ver 3 with cellular. In this case you must remove the charger, THEN push/hold the side button until the power off slider appears. Now, firm press the power off slider until the "erase all content..." button appears. Push that button, and popup will ask you to connect the charger. The Night Stand function appears when the charger is back on. Wait a little bit (20-30 seconds), then remove watch from charger to press the green check mark. When you get the spinning dial on your screen, then connect the charger one last time, and wait for the process to complete.

I had this issue on my original Series 1 stainless steel watch, which I hadn't used for a very long time. There was a post saying that you should put it on your night stand (i.e. plugged into power) and push and hold the button to bring up the power down options. Rather than slide the bit to power down, firmly push the point where you would start the 'slide' and hold until options come up. This should give you an option for a reset.

I did this and it worked for me.

I hope it works for you.

If you can find the original explanation, it may be a lot clearer than my own attempt at describing it.

I have an Apple Watch 3 cellular.

All of a sudden i looked at my watch and says to many pass code attempts. I tried to reset through my phone but it will not connect.

I have tried to follow your directions about charger and finger on grayed out power button and nothing happens.

i tried it with out the charger with a lighted button and still nothing.

i am tech savy and understand the instructions but I cant get anything to work.

Hi

Follow these steps to erase your locked watch and pair it with your new iPhone:

  • Connect your watch to its charging cable, with power connected.
  • Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider.
  • Press firmly on Power Off (do not try to slide it - just press down more firmly than a normal tap) and then tap on Erase all content and settings.
  • Pair your watch using the Watch app, choosing to Restore from Backup if offered the option.
