OS Sierra crashing Topaz Impression 2

I recently installed OS Sierra over Mavericks. Sierra is crashing Topaz Impression 2 and I'd like to reinstall either Mavericks or Yosemite as Impression 2 worked fine prior to Sierra. How should I proceed?

This Apple Support article details how to revert to OS X (despite the name, it also applies to Sierra) OS X El Capitan: Revert to a previous OS X version if you have a time machine backup.

If you don't have a time machine backup, make a backup before going any further, then and only then follow these steps:

  • Start up from Internet Recovery by holding down Option-Command (⌘)-R immediately after turning on or restarting your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Startup is complete when you see the utilities window.
  • Open Disk Utility from the utilities window, then use Disk Utility to erase your built-in hard disk using the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. Quit Disk Utility when done.
  • Choose Reinstall macOS (or Reinstall OS X) from the utilities window, then follow the onscreen instructions. This installs the system that came with your Mac when it was new.

Then upgrade to any version of the operating system which you have already "purchased/downloaded" from the App Store and finally restore your data from your backup.
