Passcode requested when notification appears in lock screen

Hello all;

I have a strange bug, when certain notifications (I have not found a pattern, but seems to be anything that is not an iMessage) appear on the lock screen, it does not last long, the phone immediately requests the passcode. The thing is that I wouldn't have touched or even moved the phone, I saw it happened when it was sitting in the desk in front of me.

I am puzzled, this is a new iPhone 7 plus, and it never happened on my iPhone 5s (which I used until today).

Thanks for any suggestions, since I don't want to restore the iPhone as new to just fix this one thing.

"Trigger that behavior"? Well, I'm actually having some trouble figuring out exactly what "that behavior" is from your original post.

Perhaps you mean, for example, that you see a notification such as a news bulletin on the lock screen very briefly (for less than a second), but then if you take any further action to view this bulletin, you are immediately asked to provide your passcode. Then Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Allow Access When Locked > Notifications View would affect this behavior, and not require the passcode if it were set "On".

The behavior that I am trying to describe occurs when:

1. The phone is sitting a desk, no one is touching it or even remotely moving it

2. A notification appears

3. Still having not touch the phone (or the desk!), the notification changes for the passcode request.

so the phone requests the password even though I have not interacted with the phone at all

I am guessing that is reasonable behavior if you've set these notifications "On", yet you are not allowing access to them when the iPhone is locked. It's almost as if these two actions nearly contradict each other.

If you don't wish to see the Notifications, turn them "off". If you wish to see them yet not get the passcode request, turn on the "Allow Access when Locked."

They were fully allowed to access. So were the notifications. The setup was an iPhone backp from my 5s (which worked fine) that was restored to my 7 plus, I thought I mentioned that but clearly I had neglected to do so.

But what you mentioned gave me the idea that the notification settings could have corrupted during the restore process. .

while they showed the correct settings (as expected from the backup), I reset (off then back on) the notifications and permissions for the affected apps. Seems to work fine so far.
