Facebook notification issue

Something seems odd with the Facebook notifications in macOS Sierra. I suddenly had an issue that whenever there is a notification in Facebook and my Mac notifies me about it, the notification banner on the upper-right hand corner of the screen says that I have 200+ (about 278) notifications pending. Also, Notification Center displays 200+ notifications.

I checked the notification in Facebook and I only had 1 notification, not 200+ as displayed by the banner and in Notification Center. It is as if that 1 notification in Facebook is multiplied by more than a hundred-fold in Notification Center.

I tried deleting my Facebook account (via the Internet Accounts tab in System Preferences) and creating it again, but to no avail. For now, I just unticked the Notification check box under Facebook's Internet Accounts settings to stop the notifications.

I hope that there's someone that could help me with this issue. Thanks in advance.

Me too. Late 2013 13" retina MacBook Pro running Sierra, and every time I get a facebook notification, my OS X notification gets 27 copies of the same notification.

Exact same issue for me – always 49 notifications for each single notification.

I noticed this morning that I suddenly got a normal behavior for FB notifications without a repair action. But this was when getting notifications by comments on posts.

When notifications from FB Messenger started to pop up right now (group conversation) it breaks and I'm back on a 55x notif rate again. This must be on the FB side is my guess.
The history of FB notifications gets swiped as well when the flood starts over...

Notification Center has never been useful for me and now it's just ridiculous. What an embarrassment.

Same things happens to me.

Everytime I receive a message on Facebook I get 16 notifications.

And now the same is happening on LinkedIn as well...

I am still getting a FB Notification of 93 items every time one comes in. MacOS 10.2.2

I am also having this issue. Early 2014 MacBook Air running the last version of Sierra. My lucky number is 19.

My so called "lucky number" is 115. Every notification is generated 115 times so even when I clear them, the next one tells me I have 115 FB notifications.

Yep, even me — 42 copies of every Facebook notification. I just installed Sierra last week, immediately upgraded to 10.12.2, and the FB notification issue started at once.
