Facebook notification issue

Something seems odd with the Facebook notifications in macOS Sierra. I suddenly had an issue that whenever there is a notification in Facebook and my Mac notifies me about it, the notification banner on the upper-right hand corner of the screen says that I have 200+ (about 278) notifications pending. Also, Notification Center displays 200+ notifications.

I checked the notification in Facebook and I only had 1 notification, not 200+ as displayed by the banner and in Notification Center. It is as if that 1 notification in Facebook is multiplied by more than a hundred-fold in Notification Center.

I tried deleting my Facebook account (via the Internet Accounts tab in System Preferences) and creating it again, but to no avail. For now, I just unticked the Notification check box under Facebook's Internet Accounts settings to stop the notifications.

I hope that there's someone that could help me with this issue. Thanks in advance.

Same here.

1 real FB notification -> 24 in NC.

Hi,

I got the exact same problem, every time a Facebook notification comes, 200+ notifications appears in notifications center ... It takes a long time to close them all !

I'm just kind of happy i'm not the only one ... But hope the problem will be fixed soon !

You can close them all at once in the upper right corner.

You can quickly close them all. But the next FB notification will generate X amount in the Mac notification centre...

Exact same issue here for me, I get 29 notifications for every 1 Facebook notification. I've been running on the macOS *early access* since it launched and I do believe that this has been happening for quite some time now, fairly annoying. Funnily I can clear them with the "x" to clear all, but I have to click a few times to clear all the notifications as it seems to only clear what's visible in the sidebar.

Same problem here on multiple machines (both running Sierra 10.12.1):

iMac 27" Mid 2011 - locked in at 45 notifications per "real" one

MacBook Air 11" Mid 2012 - varies, but tends to be in the teens per every "real" notification

With no real solution in sight, I've just disabled notifications for Facebook on both machines...

Just spoke to a senior advisor on this issue. He is submitting this thread up the chain. I will keep you all posted on any fixes or workarounds.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Getting dozens of notifications for every FB event on my laptop.

MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2012)

macOS Sierra 10.12.1

Interestingly, I was experiencing this in El Capitan starting from a few weeks ago, except it was exactly three notifications per event rather than dozens. I do note that at the time, I had exactly three Apple devices receiving notifications. I wonder if that has some relationship?

To , delete the notification click on cross sign an article : macOS Sierra: Use Notification Center

turn on or do not disturb in notification centre if it concerns you , and set the timings .

Choose as none in screen shot .

Hmm. I'm not sure. But, let me inform you and whoever reads this: there is also something wrong with Messenger notifications on my iPhone. Similar to what's happening to Macs, notifications are duplicated. But, not that exaggerated compared to Macs; notifications are only duplicated once not tenfold or more.

Messenger and the Facebook client for Macs comes from, maybe, one server. There are other replies to this thread that the problem may lie on Facebook's side and not on macOS Sierra.

Same problem with 49 notifications ! it happened right away with Mac OS Sierra update. (MacBook Pro Retina Early 2015)
