Getting Logitech MX5000 Bluetooth to Work with a Mac

Has anyone found a way to get a Logitech MX5000 to work under OS X? It pairs with my MBP, and the MBP accepts the pairing code when it's typed from the MX5000, but then, nothing. After the keyboard recognition program asks for a key press from the key next to the left Shift, it just sits there because it apparently doesn't recognize the key press.

I'm hoping that someone has found a way to make this keyboard work with a Mac. By the way, I don't want to use the Bluetooth dongle that ships with the keyboard. I bought a Bluetooth keyboard so I wouldn't have to use any kind of dongle. The MX1000 mouse that ships with the package works fine with the Mac. I'm using a utility named SteerMouse to map the mouse's buttons and wheel the way I want them. It's an excellent mouse.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

Unfortunately, the only way to get the keyboard to work that I know of and have seen anywhere is using the dongle. To get the MX 5000 keyboard to work, you have to switch off your Mac's internal Bluetooth, plug in the dongle that came with your MX5000 and then connect the mouse followed by the keyboard. This will get the basic keyboard working but not the extra keys at the top. As you've already found, you don't need the dongle if you only want to use the mouse.
