iPhone 7 plus (brand new) charging very slow

iPhone 7 plus charging very slow. Replaced with new one by service center it too has the same issue. Again i have submitted at service center with adapter and cable along this time. Any one faced this kind of issue? i bought in Singapore. So finally its two brand new phones hit with same issue charging slow. I waited 25 days to received my first which ordered on 9th Sept. Then i used it for 1 week then found this issue. Apple replaced it in 28 hours which is appreciable but again same issue for replaced one as well so again went in service center with in 20 hours. One thing i don't understand is that i am the one only facing this? If again Apple replaces it, again same issue what i have to do?

Same here.

Bought my 7 plus day before yesterday and it had about 40% charge that went down to about 10% when setting it up.

I then placed it onto my radio/dock that used to charge my 6 in a few hours and the next morning it had gone to about 35%.

I have charged it to 100% before bed and when I woke up 7 hours later it was down to 83% without even using it (where my 6 would still be about 96%).

I have just placed it onto my (Belkin) PC dock which charged my 6 in about 1.5 hours and the 7 plus went DOWN from 81% to 77% just whilst it was backing up to the PC.

It has now gone up to 80% in the past half an hour (so 3% in 30 mins).

Andyla2244,

Go to Settings > Battery and scroll down to BATTERY USAGE to see the apps that are consuming your battery. If any of the apps have unusually high usage they can be shut down (double tap the Home button, scroll left or right to find the app, then swipe up to shut it down).

As time goes by you should be able focus on the problem apps. Usually it is a rogue app constantly running in the background. You should then be able adjust the settings to the problem app to solve your problem.

Let us know how it goes.

I have iphone 5, iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 plus , I have tested it the iPhone 7 plus really charge slowly than old model, all it is using the original cable and power adapter.

may be it is because iPhone 7 plus the battery is more big 2900 mAh, but i can't accept Apple do not improve the product more fast charging time. it is giving me bad image for Apple stay old technologic and slow improvement.

What was your new charge time after you switched to ipad 12w charger? I just got my 7 plus phone yesterday and yes, going on 3 hours and still not fully charged and still charging. WOW

Are you familiar with physics? The battery is 2600 maH. the Apple adapter can supply 1,000 ma. Using simple arithmetic if it charged at the full rate it could not possibly take less than 2.6 hours from zero to full charge. But it can't do that, because it would risk overcharging and thus destroying the battery. So it charges at the full rate to 75%, then slows the charge rate to avoid overcharging, resulting in about 3 1/2 hours. Of course, this doesn't matter if you follow best practice and charge it overnight, every night.

You can bring it down to about 2 1/2 hours by using the 12W iPad charger, which can supply more than 1,000 Ma.

The battery in the 7 Plus has a much higher capacity than the battery in an iPhone 6. Using the 5 watt USB power adapter that came with the phone it will take a bit over 3 hours to charge. You can use an iPad 12 watt USB adapter and it will charge faster but not twice as fast (the charge rate is controlled by the charging microcircuit in the phone, not by the power source).

You can assure that you will have a full charge each day by charging the phone overnight, every night. And, if you enable iCloud backups, it will also create a backup every night if the phone is asleep and connected to power and WiFi.

What are you plugging it into? If it is your computer, many computers turn off power to the USB ports when they go to sleep.

If it is using the USB cube that comes with the phone, make sure the outlet is not switched. Many duplex outlets have just one jack that is on all the time and the other goes on or off with a light switch. If you are using a different USB power source switch to the Apple cube.

Also try a different cable. If none of these fix the problem you may have a failing battery. Contact Apple Support at the top of this page; they can run a remote diagnostic.

If you have a brand new 7 Plus (as does the OP of this thread) it should be covered by warranty.

Hi, Yes i tried different places with different genuine adapters and cable even connected to PC as well. Same issue apple service center people also tested they hit the same. For replacement phone which encountered same they kept in observation for 3 days from now. In diagnostics there finding nothing for first and replaced as well. this is so strange.
