Sync Photos with Synology Diskstation photo station

Does anyone know of any automated / semi-automated way to sync photos from Photos to a share volume on my DiskStation (NAS) so that the photos will end up in a folder structure that mirrors the Photos Albums structure, or at the very least some sort of date structure?

I don't want to sync the original photos but the edited versions.

I know I could pay out and use iCloud Photo Library, but as I have 3TB of free local storage it would be nice to use that.

Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12), 2.3 i7 Quad, 16GB, 512 SSD + 500GB

That is not a feature of Photos - you might be able to write a script to do it - there are user scripts to export photos in the album/folder structure ( Export Albums to Folders - Jacques Rioux's Script ) but none I've seen to synce changes - nor am I even sure it is possible but there might be - but it does not involve Photos, only external programing languages

Thanks for the link to the script, a possible semi-automated solution that could be done once a quarter.

I know that if if open the Photos Lib package, and then in the master folder are all the originals sorted by date, I could CCC this folder to the NAS, but I really need the edited versions.

I'm assuming that, as I can't find any physical edited files all the edits are virtual (non destructive) within Photos until you export/drag out, at they point they are applied to the copy created.

You can export the edited photos (file menu ==> export) - there really are no user directly accessible parts of the library - you need to use Photos, eh media browser or supported scripting - this has been true of iPhoto fro hears and Photos since it was released - with the addition of ICPL and optimized [photos and lots of background precesses you just can not directly access the library contents

Yes, I wasn't holding out much hope, just thought I'd put it out there. Using the script quarterly and then cloning the output to the NAS so it just updates new files may be the way to go.

Just tried that script and I eventually got an error:

Photos got an error: AppleEvent timed out. number -1712

I assume that may be down to the number of photos it was working through?

it did 3,800 out of 10,915.
