how can i safely remove fast launcher

Fastlauncher keeps popping up in a new tab on my macbook (i use Google Chrome). I googled it and I found out that it can harm my computer and now i'm freaking out because I can't find an answer to my question.

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Yea, don't take much stock in those sites. They are probably getting paid to redirect you to the malware removal software sites. You'll need to find the malware files in your application folder or application support folder inside libraries and delete them. Usually they have some weird name and if you are unsure, google 'folder name mac' and see what comes up. I had a folder named "UnremovableOstreophage" which i deleted and so far fastlauncher is gone.

You may also need to remove the last chrome extension you installed prior fastlauncher showing up. Personally, I've had issues with a few screenshot plug-ins.

I'd love to get some confirmation that "UnremovableOstreophage" was the right file to remove. As I stated, removing it seems to have solved the problem and my mac still runs fine but....
