I've been trying to burn cds from my itunes and when I go to play them back at about song 8 the songs have static and will start to fade in and out and will eventually stop playing. The first few songs are perfectly fine. I don't know what could be happening that would cause static to start halfway through the burned cd. I've tried changing my preferences to AIFF and Apple Lossless, but this hasn't been helping. I am getting very frustrated. What else can I do to get a decent burned cd??
Are your drivers for your burner up to date? Did you check the manufacturers wed-site for trouble shooting? I would try to use a different program to burn a CD, just to find out if it's a problem with iTunes or not. Try Windows Media Player? Also make sure your CD isn't scratched...
I've been able to burn a cd from a cd using Roxio and they turn out fine. So I don't think it's a problem with my cd burner. But thanks for the suggestions!
kicken,
Static or hiss, especially when occurring in the later tracks of a burned audio CD, can frequently be corrected by burning at a lower speed. Go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Burning and set "Preferred Speed" to a lower value and try again.
