iPhone 7 Plus Wifi problem

Upgraded my iPhone 6 to a 7 plus. Ever since doing so I have been having constant issues with the wifi dropping and then reconecting. The problem seems to be isolated to my home and just to my phone. My 2011 MacBook Pro and iPad always maintain a good connectio. Any idea what it could be?

thanks

I am an IT guy. Within last two three months after upgrading to iPhone 7, i started to drop wifi connection and called and blamed Talk Talk, filled my data and had to pay extra to modile data provider. Last week check and realized ipad and macbook works fine.

Apple, more than 790 pounds for iphone 7, and you are so arrogant that would not bother to come with any solution? Is it showing you as COOL to ignore your customers and think this is what we are? So arrogant and ignorance.

perhaps there is a hardware fault and recalling cost you a lot and customers are just numbers already paid, so forget them they then go for iphone 8, then hey you win.

Has anyone had luck with some sort of a device to increase their Wi-Fi signal? It seems to hold the connection if there are three bars. But anytime there are only two, it's super sketchy. I'm very disappointed in the performance. It works better when there is not a case on the phone, but the glass on the screens shatters way too easily not to put a case on it.

I'm also having this same problem. I tried to deal with it on a new iphone 7 for a few months, reset my phone several times, changed wifi providers and even went into the store and got a phone replacement. The replacement iphone 7 has the same exact problem. The only thing that has stayed the same is the SIM card, but I hear that shouldn't cause it. Would really like a fix Apple!

Yeah I just got a replacement phone on Thursday.

I have full wifi bars but still sporadic connectivity.

Considering going back to android.

Three other apple products in my home. All have no issue.

Considering going back to android.

Oh and the guy at the Genius Bar told me that if I am still having the same problems then it is my problem once they swap out the phones.

Greatly considering going back to android.

August 23 cannot come soon enough.

Been over 6GB plan four times since the new year....sheesh.

What worked for me was changing the MHz on my router at home. I found that the phone was working in some wifi spots but not others. At first, I had even replaced my phone and it was still a problem. After reading a few other blogs, I read about changing the MHz on my router to 2.4 may help and it did. Supposedly the iPhone 7 is having trouble with 5 MHz signals. Hopefully it's just software and Apple will just fix it with the next update. Apple? I'm not a techie, but hopefully this works for others.

Had a very similar issue with a new iPad Pro on one of the Apple base stations, changed the settings of the Radio Mode to manual and selected only 802.11n on 5GHz and only 802.11n on 2.4GHz (bit of trial and error here) and the the iPad pro no longer constantly lost the wifi connection off that unit. Connection is now rock solid.

The unit was an Airport Extreme 802.11n (3rd generation) - flat one shaped like a mac mini.. Haven't had any trouble with either of two Airport Express units (including very old one) or the 802.11ac tall airport extreme.

Did all of the forget base station, wifi on an off, reconnect, renew etc etc ... changed the radio settings on the one box and the problem disappeared.

This says to me it is a software compatibility issue.

Exactly the same problem here. Wifi constantly drops out on brand new iphone 7plus 12GB.

ℹ Just spent a whole bunch of time running tests, and I have isolated the problem. Our router is a Tri-Band router. That is to say it has three different wifi networks running on different frequencies under the on SSID (Network Name)

Logging in to my router and turning off the function that bundles them into one SSID (therefore making three different wifi networks appear where there used to be one) has completely solved this issue for me. There is some conflict with the newer phones (maybe software) when the router switched the unit between one of the three networks (Which is what the D-Link routers do - they call it "Smart Connect" or some such.) Now that the router isn't making decisions about what frequency the devices run on, the problem has disappeared.

YMMV, HTH.

Same problem with my iPhone 7...it connects to wifi network at home and always shows three bars but is constantly not loading pages on Safari or things in apps. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have tried everything suggested in this thread....both the things pertaining to the iPhone and the wifi network, and none of them has made any difference. The guy at the 'genius' bar blamed my wifi network. I know it's not my wifi network. First of all, we have three iPads that all connect to wifi no problem, an android that has no problem, AND my mom has the exact same iPhone 7 as I do and she has no problems either. After reading this thread, clearly it is a problem with the iPhone 7. Not really sure why my mom's works fine, considering she's running the same software as I am. I just know it's really frustrating. My iPhone 6 worked better than this did, but I wanted to 'upgrade'. Surprise, surprise, no Apple Support staff have replied to this months old live thread. I just had an experience with the support staff at Apple with my MacBook Pro....they always blame their customers for having faulty home networks or having messed up the device themselves. They never admit it could possibly be a problem with the device itself, despite threads like this that clearly show something is not an isolated issue. I like my Apple devices...when they work. Lately they haven't been doing so hot though. And the customer support really stinks. I've never had an android, but my dad has always had a Samsung phone and never once had a problem...not that losing one customer would matter at all to a big company like Apple, but I'm seriously considering switching over. If Apple ever starts to care about customer satisfaction, and admit when they make a mistake with their services or products, they could actually be a really good company. If any one does find a permanent fix for this (toggling wifi off and back on only works for a while) please post back here!

I had the same issue of dropping wifi with my iPhone 7 for a long time. Last week I had problem with my iPad 3rd generation which stuck on booting. I contacted Apple and they resolved the iPad issue. At the end I asked about the iPhone 7 problem I have and Apple staff mentioned I may disable Routers 5Ghz option To see what happens and I did, keeping only 2.4Ghz. rebooted router and my iphone. It appears that I have an stable connection, up to now and no wifi drop

friends, I have iPhone7 I have problems connecting my WIFI, and at the same time same environment my iPad and Mac connect fine. I had this problem for several month, I visited Apple Store in China, and came back to reinstall OS (I'm a software engineer), I even went Apple Store in Apple campus in Cupertino (my US home is nearby there), and I was on my phone running test with the Apple support, all showed everything is fine and no wifi hardware problem.

Last week I was in Hong Kong, and close to the Apple Store in Central, so I decided to try my luck. After hearing my problem and what I have been thru. The staff there REPLACED my iPhone 7 for free. He told me they have seen similar problems with about 300 hundred customers.

So friends, talk to Apple about this, and if you have tried my steps and still doesn't work, you need to ask Apple to replace your iphone7. I wasted so much of my time, turn off the phone and restart which was the only way to get wifi to work. And even the turn ON and OFF does not always work. It wasted so much of my time.

I hope you don't waste your time.

Im disappointed by Apple Cupertino store and their support when they know about the problem they don't replace my phone. Truth is even Apple disappoints.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 7. It connects to the wifi network at home and always shows three bars, but it's consistently not loading pages on Safari or apps. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have tried everything suggested in this thread, and have even gotten a replacement iPhone 7 with no success. I also have 3 other apple items( MacBook, iPad, and Apple TV) all running on the same network and settings with no issues at all. This issue is killing my data on my cell phone plan and i've gone over multiple times (I have 10GB) resulting in additional charges. There has to be a solution or answer from Apple, because my network carrier has been super unhelpful.

I have to disconnect and then reconnect to my wifi to stop the phone from stalling out. It is very frustrating because it happens pretty frequently, definitely everyday, multiple times a day. My connection to Verizon ends up being faster and more reliable than my own free wifi.

My iPhone 7 Plus has endless errors and problems. The phone is slow, even though I've only filled up 60gbs of 256. Why would the wifi stall out? Makes me wonder why my calls get dropped, too, without notification that it was dropped. There's never a call fail notification, just a disappeared phone call. Very unfair. Probably due to wifi dropping out, but it happens when I'm on the go, too.
