4g issues with three network UK - iphone 7 plus

I have no 4g on my iPhone 7 plus and am on Three Network (UK). The same sim card worked perfectly fine in my iPhone 6s plus.

Three advise me that it is solely an issue with Apple, and the iOS on the new iPhone 7 plus and the issue will remain until Apple resolve and release an update to the software.

Having spoken to Apple Care they claim to know nothing about this so changed my handset for me. Annoyingly and as I had expected I am experiencing the same issues. I have been without 4g for 10 days now but pay the high monthly rate Three charge. Three tell me they are contractually only obliged to provide me with 3g data and not 4g, despite me being on their best package.

APPLE.... HELP?!?!

firstly on your iphone go to settings and enable mobile data after that back to settings go to carrier and switch off automatic for a few minutes then try go to safari and reload your page to see if it's working if not go back to settings then carrier, enable automatic wait for few minutes then go to safari reload the page again.

it works on my 7 plus perfectly so just wanna share with you.

hi, you are not the only one here! I got same problems and it's all down to the iPhone 7 and nothing to worry about your SIM card or network provider. Seems like the new 7 has got some issues with the signal , probably hardware or perhaps software or both. Try updating to the latest iOS 10.0.3 specially made for iphone 7 and if doesn't help you have only option to wait until next update or just return the phone for refund and use your iPhone 6s. I bought new 6s instead and works perfectly out of the box as it should, sorry but iPhone 7 didn't, I liked a lot but it was just useless for me.

I do have the same issue. Have I-phone 7+ and with three network(SIM only deals). I spoke to three support and they say we have to wait till the next update and also changing phones might not help though apple have agreed to swap the phone.

10.0.3 update have not fixed this issue.

Is there any one who has an I-phone 7 or 7+ in a different network apart from 3 and have the same experience. Can some one please share? If they have the same issue in a different network then I believe I-phone 7 and 7+ is not compatible with 4G.

As both three and apple support are not giving the full picture?

Thank you for your reply.

I had not realised the ios update was released. Anyway, i have done this as well as all other recommendations in your message. I was pleased to see that 4g started to work and thought it had been resolved, however as of last night it seems we are back to where my original issue, and the ios update has not resolved the issue.

Any other suggestioons?

Apple can you comment or help please?

Problems with the signal are reported with other networks in UK too, Vodafone for example. If the 10.0.3 doesn't fix the issues and you have exchanged your phone already and still poor signal than can be something more serious then a software issues, and you might have two options left:

1. live with that

2. return the 7 and get 6s.

I personally choose the second one and so far so good, the only thing that I miss from the 7 are the dual speakers and the new Touch ID, but will not swapp these for the excellent speed and 4G of the 6s.

Same problem here! I complained to Three about the signal in my area with my old 5s. They ensured me that if I purchased an iPhone 7, or 6, that everything would be loads better as they work on a different frequency. That seemed to make sense, so I went out and bought an iPhone 7 and it was exactly the same! After contacting Three to ask if I had been purely 'led up the garden path', and after being on hold for a very long time, they came back to me. On questioning their technical department, I was told that there is a problem between Apple and Three with regards to the network software and carrier settings and that they were working between themselves to resolve this. When I asked how long this would take, they couldn't tell me. Apparently it doesn't apply to all masts, it's just the true 4G transmission which are fairly new. I then contacted Apple who at first didn't know anything about it, and after lots of getting bounced around departments, I was told that it was nothing to do with them and it was up to Three to correct their carrier software. Who knows how long it will take and if it will ever get sorted out. Will probably have to return the phone I think :-(

Best thing to do is to return. There is nothing wrong with 3 network settings, I have 3 other iPhones (5s, 6, 6s) with 3 network sims and non of them have any issues with 4G or poor reception, of course there are some areas that 4G is weak and in this case a normal working phone would switch to 3G and when better signal is available automatically will return to 4G, but iPhone 7 fails to do so, all other does it perfectly good. All the engineers from both Apple and the network provider will tell us what their bosses has ordered them to talk, so can't trust 100% here. A quick research on the web can give you more information.

Three advised me on 21 Oct that they are in touch with Apple and Apple are aware of this issue. They advised that the recent update did nothing for UK phones.

I am waiting for Apple UK to respond to me on the issue

I have asked for Options for returning the iphone 7 as my 14 days is nearly up and I live a few hours away from the nearest Apple shop and there are no appointments until after 29 Oct!

I Had same trouble with my 7 on 3. Went to Three Store in Harrow And there were 2 iPhone 7 and 7 plus with 3 sim inserted in both, I did play with them and they seemed to perform absolutely fine but my one and many more does not, no update helps. I think there are many faulty iPhones 7 and best way is to request exchange or retutrn and get another model 6s for example or se whatever you like. Anything else it's just waste of time.
