TV is showing black screen when I connect my Macbook Pro to Apple TV via AirPlay, but I can still hear the sound. Just no picture.

As the title says, When I turn on AirPlay on my Macbook Pro, it connects to my Apple TV.

However, the TV shows a black screen. My Macbook is working normally, I can see everything on its screen and function normally, it's just that the TV is not showing anything, just a black screen.

BUT, I can still hear any audio through the TV, that is playing from my Macbook.

So I know it's connected for a fact. I just don't understand why the screen is black. Please Help!

I had the same issue. It was Duet Display that caused the problem. Uninstalled it. I heard it also happens with air parrot.

Hi. Have you fully uninstalled any 3rd-party screen sharing apps, like Duet, AirParrot, Display Maestro, Splashtop, iDisplay, Screen Recycler, etc.? These interfere with Apple AirPlay.

Full reset (soft, not hard) of both devices solved this for me. YMMV...

Do you/did you have Duet on your MacBook? I had the identical problem and completely removing Duet took care of the problem instantly and permanently.

No, I have never used Duet.
