TV is showing black screen when I connect my Macbook Pro to Apple TV via AirPlay, but I can still hear the sound. Just no picture.

As the title says, When I turn on AirPlay on my Macbook Pro, it connects to my Apple TV.

However, the TV shows a black screen. My Macbook is working normally, I can see everything on its screen and function normally, it's just that the TV is not showing anything, just a black screen.

BUT, I can still hear any audio through the TV, that is playing from my Macbook.

So I know it's connected for a fact. I just don't understand why the screen is black. Please Help!

Do you/did you have Duet on your MacBook? I had the identical problem and completely removing Duet took care of the problem instantly and permanently.

No, I have never used Duet.

I am having this problem on my iPhone 6s. I have Hulu live tv but when I use airplay to mirror it on my tv as soon as I try to play live tv the screen goes black but I can still hear the sound.

Hi piasalady. An app can block AirPlay, at its option. If you have Apple TV 4 (small black remote) you can get the Hulu app for it.
