Color profiles not working

This might have been happening before but I've only noticed it since updating to macOS Sierra. My display color profiles are not working. No-matter which displays I connect via HDMI, the only display profile given (when 'Show profiles for this display only' is checked) is 'sRGB IEC61966-2.1'. If I untick 'Show profiles for this display only' and select anything else - the color gamut doesn't change at all.

Anyone else having this issue? How can I fix it?

So just to report an update... Color profiles started working and all was fine. Then they stopped again. I have a DVI Lightning Adapter and a DVI cable, so no HDMI, and the problem still remains. I'm stumped what causes it to stop working and then to start working.

Me too. That doesn't make sense.

You've mentioned it's a Viewsonic monitor. What model is it?

Something I completely forgot to suggest. If you create a new test account and login to it, does the same thing happen there?

I have been having this issue intermittently. I seem able to unstick it by switching to "Mirror Display" and then back to "Use As Separate Display".
