People can't hear me when talking on the phone of my iPhone 7

I recently purchased the iPhone 7 and whenever I call someone or they call me in the middle of the conversation they are not able to hear me while I can still hear them; often resulting in them hanging up on me and having to call them back only for the same situation to happen all over again; sometimes after putting the phone on speaker then turning speaker off they'll hear me again but minutes later they can not hear me again.....please help

Same bullsh** is happening to me as I too am on my second new iPhone 7 with AT&T and it most likely is due to Apple foolishly deciding to farm out there iPhone 7 chipset/modem contract to not only Qualcomm this year but Intel and it is the Intel based iPhone 7's (AT&T and T-Mobile only sell the Intel version) that are having this issue. You can verify this by checking the model number under Settings > General > Regulatory. If you have model A1778 or A1784 then you have an Intel iPhone 7. If you have A1660 or A1661 then you have the Qualcomm iPhone 7 which is hands down the better phone and the test by independent 3rd parties prove it. This is pathetic! Apple needs to get it together quick or they'll lose even more customers than they already have!

I had this issue while using my phone at home as well with a week old iphone 7 plus purchased from the apple store. it was working fine until last night when i could receive and make phone calls but the person on the other end could only hear 'noise' but i could hear them talking fine. the problem persists today.

I contacted apple support and got a person via CHAT (since i could not make a phone call!!) and we did the following,

1. check to make sound works on your phone,

a. using voice memo, record and play back sound

b. ask siri a question, i.e. find 'joe brown' (someone who is in your contact list)

c. record a video, with the front and back lense (i.e reversed and without it reversed)

2. check you connection to your cellular provider

1. turn off your phone, wait 2 mintes turn it back on

2. turn on airplane mode, wait, then turn it back on,

3. enable wifi calling SETTINGS>PHONE (this test did not work for me because I was still connecting to AT & T)

My husband who has a droid could make and receive phone calls fine,

I have lived at my home for 8 years on had an iphone 4 & 5 with the same carrier, AT & T, and never had this type of issue but you'll find apple support wants to say it's a carrier issue.

if you go online you'll find other people have had this issue but you shouldn't have to turn off features, reset your phone or muck with the exterior to get it working, it's not a cheap phone, i would return it

good luck

My wife’s iPhone 7 Plus has had continuous sound issues from day 1 - she has sent it in repeatedly to her service provider but they always come back with same answer - no problem detected. The problem is that it is intermittent- sometimes people can hear her well other times the only way people can hear her is if she puts the phone on hands free - then people hear her perfectly!! I have a iPhone 6 Plus and she often uses it without any issue...any sugges

I have this issue as well. I have AT&T.

Here's what I've done:

  1. Tested that this happens with and without noise cancelling enabled. With and without Wi-Fi. With and without a case on. With and without speakerphone. With and without headphones. Multiple geographic locations. Multiple callers. Toggling speakerphone doesn't fix the issue when it's happening. Removing headphones doesn't fix the issue when it's happening. Moving the phone around (to get better signal) maybe help, but I don't have enough data to prove this isn't coincidental. This issue started for me before the 10.0.3 release, basically within a week of purchasing the phone.
  2. Apple store reset my network settings and gave me a new SIM card, which I then went to AT&T to activate. Issue continued.
  3. Apple store gave me a new phone. Issue continued.
  4. Apple store told me not to backup from iCloud, so I reset my phone and set it up as a new phone (not using iTunes). Issue continued.
  5. Apple store told me to reset phone using iTunes and set up as new phone. Issue continued.
  6. Apple store told me to try disabling LTE voice (forces 4G voice). They suspect that my reception was poor (I rarely ever get more than 2 of 5 bars in general) and that the LTE signal was dropping mid-call. Call quality was poor when I swapped to 4G, so this is not a viable solution for me. I re-enabled LTE voice before I could do extensive testing. Issue continued.
  7. I enabled Wi-Fi calling to try something else, but it never actually enabled (I never saw the AT&T Wi-Fi on the top of my phone).
  8. I called Apple support and they think it's a problem with "AT&T provisioning", but had me generate logs for them to analyze. They also suggested Wi-Fi calling, but I told them it wasn't working. While on the phone with them, the issue happened, they couldn't hear me and I could hear them.
  9. AT&T Wi-Fi finally showed up while I was on Wi-Fi, days after enabling it. However, this functionality is intermittent and doesn't always enable when I'm on Wi-Fi.
  10. Followup call with Apple support, they downloaded my logs and are analyzing.
  11. I called back a week or so later, left a message, no response in 4 days. Will try again.
