When I search Google from within Safari, and then click a search result link, about half the time I get to the result page but with a grey banner across the top of the page. The banner has an X, but when clicked it doesn't remove the banner, it takes me back to the Google search results.
What is this, why it is there, and most importantly, how do I get rid of it?

Clear information from your device
To clear your history and cookies from Safari in iOS 8 or later, tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data. In iOS 7 or earlier, tap Clear History and tap Clear Cookies and Data.
To clear other stored information from Safari, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data > Remove All Website Data.
Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won't change your AutoFill information.

Hi - I followed your posted instructions and cleared all data from Safari. But it didn't help. The banner is still there.
I have this problem too. It only started recently. It's a very annoying waste of Screen space. When I click on a result item in the google search list, the annoying banner appears.
