Compatibility Mode

When I open up Itunes, much like other users, I get a message saying: "itunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of windows. For best results turn off compatibility mode for Itunes before you open it."

So I went through the process that is recommended by Itunes Help which is to right click over the itunes.exe program folder, click on properties and then it says to click on the "compatibility" tab to uncheck compatibility mode. The only problem is that when I click on the properties, the only tabs that show up for me are: General, Sharing, & Customize. So I do not have a "compatibility" tab. Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated - its so frustrating because it makes my whole computer go black, then every when it reopens every program is in such bad resolution and looks so old-school.

Thanks again!

thank you. that is the exact process i followed and when i get to this point I am unable to continue becaue i do not have the "compatibility tab".

Right-click on the iTunes application (iTunes or iTunes.exe) and from the shortcut menu, click Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Deselect the checkbox under Compatibility mode if it's selected.

So i am unable to "deselect the checkbox"

any other thoughts?

Thanks so much.

wow. i missed that. the good news is - i followed your instructions to the tee this time, and unchecked the compatibility mode. the bad news? i restarted my computer after doing this (just in case) and then went through the steps to make sure it was still not in compatibility mode (which it wasn't) and then opened itunes and the same exact thing happened. my screen went black for a second, then i got the message about compatibility mode, and all other programs (including itunes) functions in this really wierd looking, old school - bad pixels mode.

should i give up?

by the way - thank you so much.

i've managed to reproduce that myself on belladonna.

head back into the compatibility mode tab on your iTunes.exe.

make sure you've got both "run in 256 colors" and "run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" unchecked. (if either of them are checked, uncheck them.)

OK out of the tab, and try launching itunes again. does she launch properly this time?
