Adobe Flash Player shows as out of date?

I own an iMac purchased in 2015 using Safari 10.0(only), macOS Sierra 10.12, and I am having huge difficulty with many, many websites not allowing me to view video content because they say my Adobe Flash Player is out of date. I have the most recent version of Flash installed on my iMac. I do not allow auto updates. I make them tell me to update. According to the information provided within System Preferences, I have the most recent version of Flash installed, yet multiple websites give me that error message. Example, Rachaelrayshow.com is the most recent website informing me that my Flash is out of date. Is anyone else getting this message on multiple websites? I have contacted Apple, but I am told that they do not support Adobe, a 3rd party, but I have viewed video on Rachael's website before without difficulty. I'm not talking about viewing free movies on suspicious websites. I'm talking about reputable websites now never allowing me to view content because of the outdatedness of my Flash. HELP>>>? Adobe wants me to do an uninstall using their program to uninstall and then reinstall because of an error in their version. I got hacked once before on a PC through Adobe and am reluctant to use their uninstaller. HELP Please????

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), Apple Wireless Keyboard & Mouse

Thanks..... I am there too... lots of advices to avoid Flash etc but if you have it from Adobe direct the install page you show has an Advanced Tab! What the H--- does it mean/threaten?

"Delete all local storage...etc" sounds very unwise or is it supposed to be saying '...all local storage in use by Flash Player?

I go to and fro between removing all Adobe apps and Flash etc, but advice seems to be very inconsistent too... except for from Adobe ;-)

If the info that Adobe is seen as a Malware 'route in'... we should all trash and avoid, shouldn't we?

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

* To avoid this situation in the future, Apple announced that Macs would in future not have Flash Player pre-installed, precisely to avoid this situation, saying:

We're happy to continue to support Flash on the Mac, and the best way for users to always have the most up to date and secure version is to download it directly from Adobe.

Is there no work around to avoid using Adobe Flash Player on multiple websites? Why do they force us to use unwanted software to view normal content on their sites. I'm not talking about 2 hour movies. I'm just trying to make a purchase of a wanted item.

That "normal" content is in Flash file format. So, it requires the Flash player. Fewer and fewer websites are using that format but, for the ones that do, you either have to have the player installed or not watch the video.

Adobe Flash is one of the principle ways that malware gets installed on computers. A number of security experts recommend that you remove it from your system, and do not visit websites that still use it. There are alternatives to it, and it is only laziness on the part of sites that still support it. Note that Youtube banned it over a year ago. And I will not do business with any site that requires it. Fitbit, for example.
