USB Display Agent

When my battery kept running down on my 2015 MacBook Pro after I downloaded Sierra - I looked and in the battery drop down it shows apps that are using significant energy and it says "USB Display Agent" - what is this??

Mac Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12.1)

Hello katbron,

Thanks for asking about the USB Display Agent here in the Apple Support Communities. I understand how important it is to keep your battery power and remove any non-essential programs and apps. I am happy to check this out with you.

The first thing we want to ensure is that all your data is safe. You can make a backup using Time Machine and an external hard drive. Use this article for help making a backup of your Mac: Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac .

This is most likely some third party connection for a printer (such as Epson, Cannon, or any printer manufacturer) to connect a projector via USB. These types of things get installed with printer drivers. You should go into your login items [System Preferences > Users & Groups, then the tab for Login items] and see if there is a program called, "USB Display Agent" listed there. If there is, go ahead and remove it. Then, find the software to uninstall in the Applications folder, or just do a spotlight search for "USB Display Agent".

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
