Unknown Host Error

Hello everyone!

I am facing a problem trying to connect to my files on my AirPort Time Capsule 3TB.

I used to manage this easily when I used my Sony VAIO laptop (I don't have Mac yet, unfortunately) and my iPhone 6 using one of the Apps (FileExplorer). I copied there a lot of different images, so I know there are files.

Now I have just my iPhone (no laptop as of now), and something happened: now when App is trying to connect to AirPort Time Capsule there is always an error “Connection failed with error: Unknown host”. I upgraded AirPort Time Capsule software to 7.7.7 version, but still no luck. I downloaded other Apps (Remote File Manager), still no success. So I think there is a problem with my AirPort Time Capsule 3TB setting, that do not allow App to connect to AirPort Time Capsule 3TB and see the files. what setting should be there to allow this?

Thanks to everyone in advance!!

The only settings for disk sharing on the Time Capsule that you can set can be found in the AirPort Utility on your iPhone, as follows:

  • Tap on the AirPort Utility.
  • Tap on the Time Capsule.
  • Tap on Edit.
  • Tap on Advanced.
  • Tap on File Sharing and Disks.
  • The File Sharing option should be enabled.
  • The partition name of the Time Capsule (by default, it is called: Data) should appear after: Disk Name.
  • Tap on Disks.
  • The amount of shared hard drive space and the disk name should appear.

Thank you!

I checked my settings, it was exactly the same as you described above. but still no ability to see files.

BUT, the fact that your list was pretty simple helped me to assumed that there shouldn’t be so much trouble with settings.

I decided to unplug my AirPort Time Capsule, but there was only “Flashing amber” color on it, so the last decision was to reset my AirPort Time Capsule 3TB and create a new network. And now everything is OK with the new network! Thank you!!
