connect 2016 macbook pro to LED Cinema Display

This is so frustrating. I chatted with Apple support about this and they pointed to this thread as a "solution"! I may have to bite the bullet and go for one of these cheap Chinese adapters. There appear to be at least two of them on Amazon, but I don't feel at all confident that these are reliable. Same with the one on Newegg -- there's one review there and it's not good <sigh>. I did find one other adapter at AllSmartLife (~$22).

They tempt you with "free shipping", but when you check out, they wanted to charge me $15 to ship it via USPS. For something that weighs 0.25 kilograms. This one apparently used to be on Amazon, too, but it's gone now.

sliphium, the "cheap Chinese adapter" that I bought appears really well made with a metal housing; it was cheap only in price ($16) and no shipping cost. I have been using it nonstop for a week without problems:

Can anyone else comment if they've had success with the product above?

I bought from Lindy: a DisplayPort Male to Mini DisplayPort Female Adapter Cable (41060) and a USB 3.1 Type C to DisplayPort Converter Adapter (43193) which works.

I bought 3 new MBP in January 2017 and 3 USB-C to Thunderbolt adapters. None work with my Apple display. Will Apple return AT LEAST my adaptors cost?

I support what philliprodo said -- in fact, I did it with one adapter for under $20 -- see my prior posts to this thread
