Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Upgraded to macOS 10.12.1 last week. Today I show four updates available on the App Store icon in the dock. But when I click on  Store there is nothing displayed. Rebooted, signed out and back in with Apple ID but still no updates displayed.

Did you click on the Apple store? If so,
You need to launch the app store, not the Apple store (sells computers, etc).
The app store is in your dock and/or your Applications folder.
Apple is now a losing proposition. Constant lack of quality control. They only make things worse, not better. Looking at Windows for first time ever. Apple has had it too easy too long. Bye bye
Oct. 27. macOS 10.12.1. Badging on App Store dock icon indicating seven updates. Open Mac App Store, click on the "Updates" icon (with numeral 7 on it) but after a few seconds of daisy wheel, no list of updates above the "Updates Installed in the Last 30 Days line." So, are there updates or are there not?
Having exact same problem as ChuckR on my Mid-2012 MbP with macOS 10.12.1.
I had the same issue.
What the heck it up with iCloud removing files and folders and not storing them on the cloud? Example: Parallels Operation Systems that were installed using Parallels. If it wasn't for Time Machine I would've lost all of my stored accounts and their Operating systems!!
Yes, same here. And I'm still on 10.12.0. On an iMac and on a MacBook Pro.

Exactly the same problem except I have 6 updates showing as available on the App Store icon but nothing appears when I click on the updates section of the App Store. I have everything for Updates on automatic but nothing appears to be happening. I am using MacOS 10.12.1.
I just contacted Apple Support (in Austria), they are already aware of the problem. As a workaround: in the App Store app you can go to "Purchased" where all your apps (you purchased from the App Store) are listed. Right to it you see the status of that app (Open, Install or Update). From there you can start the update process for each app.

FWIW, repairing permissions is a "red herring". Apple was having an issue with App Store Servers.
