iTunes Crashes When Adding Songs, After Latest Update

As the title states, my iTunes crashes every time I try to add a song to my library. This only started happening right after I updated my iTunes to version 12.5.2. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes but that did not help.


Here's exactly what happens:

1. I add 1 song to the iTunes library

2. The cloud symbol appears and is being added to the cloud. (I would like to add that I am subscribed for iTunes Match)

3. iTunes crashes

4. I reopen iTunes and there is not 1 but 2 versions of the same song in my library


At the end I am not able to add any new music to my library.

In both Mac OS Sierra and Windows release 12.5.3.17 fixed this issue. The mac os update is available in the Upstore in the Updates, on Windows the Software Updater doesn't find the new version, but the download from the Apple website comes with release 12.5.3.17.
I had the same issue with my iTunes music library and it has now been fixed when this update was installed.

This is the EXACT issue I was having. On a Mac running the latest Sierra and latest iTunes. Which means this is a platform agnostic issue and likely related to the version of iTunes and Match.


I signed in and out and few simple tricks and I got parts of this problem to go away. The crashing part and the duplicate part. But now if I add a song Match simply uploads it but won't match it.

The problem seems related to iTunes Match; at least it is for me. I've temporarily disabled the iCloud Music Library setting (Preferences > General tab) and successfully added new music to my library without iTunes crashing. I also previously had the duplicate playlist issue someone else mentioned - no problem since disabling Match. This is very unfortunate because Match is useful! Hopefully Apple can fix this issue as I prefer to not revert back to older iTunes versions...
