Can't open localhost 127.0.0.1 on macOS Sierra 10.12.1

Great. Let's be totally clear, are you using http://127.0.0.1:8888 in Safari?

How about http://localhost:8888?

Have you tried other browsers?


MAMP should have logs for each service. It is worth checking the most recent ones the documentation has this info…

MAMP Application Directory:

/Applications/MAMP/logs

/Applications/MAMP/Library/logs

Ensure all the logs are not showing recent errors.

I'd also recommend rebooting if you are trying a lot of tests - sometimes the OS may use ports for other services if things are not setup or shutdown correctly.


Is this the most recent version of MAMP?

I'd backup the MAMP folder & reinstall MAMP if this is a version that was uses on an older OS - they may not always upgrade smoothly when a new OS is installed.
