Apache using port 8888 worked prior to updating with Sierra
If you know how to use Wireshark, you may be able to diagnose problems.
Great. Let's be totally clear, are you using http://127.0.0.1:8888 in Safari?
How about http://localhost:8888?
Have you tried other browsers?
MAMP should have logs for each service. It is worth checking the most recent ones the documentation has this info…
MAMP Application Directory:
/Applications/MAMP/logs
/Applications/MAMP/Library/logs
Ensure all the logs are not showing recent errors.
I'd also recommend rebooting if you are trying a lot of tests - sometimes the OS may use ports for other services if things are not setup or shutdown correctly.
Is this the most recent version of MAMP?
I'd backup the MAMP folder & reinstall MAMP if this is a version that was uses on an older OS - they may not always upgrade smoothly when a new OS is installed.
Thanks, Drew. I looked at the MAMP log and did not see anything unusual--no errors. I will give up for tonight and resume tomorrow with your suggestions for other browsers, rebooting, and looking for MAMP update.
