printer fails after upgrade to Sierra

After upgrading to Sierra my LaserJet 2200 no longer works. Print job spools to printer but gets a "printer not responding" error and hangs. This happens on two systems upgraded to Sierra. Two other systems not upgraded work okay. Other printer HP Deskjet Pro 8600 works okay on all 4 systems. I have tried removing and re-adding the printer and reseting the printer system. Nothing seems to fix it. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for your assistance. I'm pretty much a Mac novice.

Re: downloading new drivers -- Apple > Ap Store > Updates says I'm up to date. HP says to use Apple Update.

One thing I failed to mention earlier is that this is operating on the network with a D-Link print server. The printer is USB/Parallel. When connected directly to the Mac with USB it works okay. It's only on Ethernet that it fails. I have reset and reconfigured the print server with no change in the results. The DeskJet which still works okay has Ethernet built in. I tried using a D-Link router with a USB "Share Port". Had the same "Printer Not Responding" error. I'll try one more different Ethernet-to-USB print server.

The printer has continued to work okay with the Macs not yet upgraded to Sierra.
