My Cannon MP270 Printer wont work after installation of macOS Sierra

Since moving to the macOS Sierra operating system my cannon printer isn't recognised. I've tried looking for updates from Cannon and could find none.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), macOS Sierra (10.12.1)

The printer and scanner driver for the Canon MP270 is available from Apple. So the question is what do you mean by isn't recognised? If you mean that the MP270 is not seen by the Mac, then this is not caused by the drivers and is due to some connection issue.

If you are connecting the MP270 to the Mac via USB cable, then try turning off the MP270 and unplugging the USB cable for a minute. Then reconnect the USB cable and turn the power back on. Now see if the printer is visible. If it is then you should be able to add the printer.
