IMessage Invalid

Hello Folks,

I have one of the weirdest problem.

From my phone, I can send iMessage to anyone in my address book that has an IPhone/IMessage enabled.

From my Mac, I can send IMessage to only a certain list of people. When I select these people (that have an iPhone and IMessage enabled), I have the message saying iMessage Invalid.

I am confused and it's is driving me nuts !

Hi,

To Login just an iMessages account in Messages on the Mac there are two connections to the servers.

One is logging in and the other is to "See" who is on Line.

Whilst not quiet the same as an AIM or Jabber Buddy list the process is effectively the same as seeing Buddies ON line separate from your login process.

There can be situations where you get a partial Login means you cannot verify the people on line whilst appearing to be logged in.

There is no indicator whether you are or not (Unlike a Buddy List account where they all go Off line and it can say Disconnected).

I would try the Sign Out button in the iMessages account on the Mac.

I would then Quit the app and then Restart it before turning the account back On.

There are ways to remove the Apple ID and Login details and making the app start afresh if we need to go that far.

For iMessages that have been missed in between time it is likely to be a mixed picture on retrieving them based on the time taken from them being sent and the servers "thinking" you are logged in and send you them.

You may only get those sent after you reset the login.

Ok,

Open a Finder window.

Use the Go Menu and Go to Folder and enter ~/Library/Preferences into the dialogue box.

You can copy and paste the bold text from here.

Find the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist file.

Drag it to the Trash.

Restart Messages and fill in the Apple ID in the iMessages account again.

A Pop up should appear on the iPhone to say the Mac is using the Apple.

Another should appear on the Mac to say the iPhone is using the Number and Apple ID and the number should be added as an Alternative when you accept the pop up.

Hi,

In the iPhone which Send and Receive ID are active ?

Is it both Apple ID and iPhone number ?

What is active on the Mac ?

Is it both ?

In theory on the iPhone you cannot deselect it but in practice it can get dropped.

If this happens it will send via Apple ID but eventually even that stop as the link between the two breaks down as the iPhone gets de-registered.

However symptom that things are not right can show up on either device.
