No Sound output on FCP 10.3

Since upgrading to FCP 10.3, any video that I export does not include audio. My export preferences are set to "Video and Audio". What else do I need to set or check in order to have sound in my output files?

Final Cut Pro X, macOS Sierra (10.12.1), Mac Pro (late 2013)

Hi Tom, I have this problem too. Unfortunately, just after the download of the new version I decided to update the libraries of the old version of FCP X. And now I'm not able to share the sound roles, even carefully following the process, i.e. multitracks on setting and marking with a tick the different audio roles. It's incredible, everything in the timeline is okay. I tried to create new subroles but nothing appened. What can I do? Eugene

Tom, How should the Role Settings be configured? I guess I don't understand how all of this comes into play. These are new videos, not converted ones from an old library. With earlier version of FCP I imported the video, edited it and then exported... no problem. With 10.3.1, I am following the same steps, but the output files contain no sound. I've tried several different outputs... no sound. I've looked throughout the app for some sort of property /attribute to configure. Nothing seems to help. I've never used roles before, so that is a new one on me. Very frustrating.

Hi Gverras, after endless attempts to overcome the issue, finally it seems to be solved with a little dodge.

Simply, shift all the audio subroles inside the 'Dialogue' role as new subroles. The program will merge the new subroles inside the new role deleting the old position in the library. Try it and let me know if it works as it worked to me! I hope it's helpful. Geniù

Hi geniu

Unfortunately, The Audio Roles dropdown is empty and no matter how I try to select or shift a subrole, I am not allowed to add or change a role or subrole. It just won't let me do it.

I wonder if there is an XML file somewhere that I can edit to add the role to the clip? Have any idea where I would look?

I also have this problem. My work-around was to copy out the original source file, then rename it to source2 and re-import it. That worked.

I think the problem revolves around Roles and Sub-roles, but had not been able to fix it any other way, and I am under pressure to produce the video export (with sound!!!).

Hope this helps some one out there!
