OS Sierra Mail not showing Paper Clip icon for Attachments

Same problem here, no paperclip icon for my pop account inbox or local folders for mail received after moving to Sierra. Attachments appear for mail received before moving to Sierra. Attachments appear in paper clip column for sent mail. Sierra 10.12.3.

The only place attachments now appear are in the body of an email. The attachment can be downloaded from there by dragging. Attachments no longer appear in the paper clip column in message viewer - so you can't see which emails have attachments, nor can attachments be saved from a selected email using the File > Save Attachments ... menu item.

Thanks Eric, have done as suggested and sent feedback to Apple. We run an office of a dozen+ Macs, I would posit that the problem in my case seems to be related to the update history of the system software. The more recent/cleaner installs don't seem to have a problem, whereas i've dragged my system from the 10.0 days to here. The v2 mail update also had various problems. I'd be interested to hear whether anyone is experiencing this problem with clean installs of Sierra, or only when upgrading from 10.11.6 or earlier.

Mine was a clean install of Sierra, 10.12.3. About a month ago. (Just bought this machine, used) I formatted the disk and did a clean install.

I brought all my email over from my old MBP. And the paperclip attachment icon (in the message list only-I might add) is missing on all new emails since the transition. My email moved over from the old machine still has the paperclip icon.

Exactly:

• Old, imported POP emails with attachments are fine – attachments can be removed.

• New, incoming POP emails with attachments are (at least displayed) defective – attachments can't be removed.

My main concern is that I can't remove all these attachments!!

(a very limited workaround: forwarding to myself without attachments, but that often changes date & sort order)

I have the exact same issue. I have my main account setup as POP as well. That paperclip icon is used all the time and without it I struggle to quickly find the emails I need.

Funny enough, I still have the icon on all my emails that contain attachments before Oct. 3rd 2016. So something went screwy after that date.

I am experiencing the same problem. Since October 3 I have no paperclips in my Emails. It really is annoying! I always trusted Apple to fully test any and all features (read problems) in their products before release. This is like a Microsoft release...

The basic functions should just work!

I am still looking for Answers on this issue. My fingers are crossed that in the next Sierra update that it may be fixed.

I am concerned that there doesn't seem to be a lot of entries about tis topic. It is really a pain to try to find an attachment without the paperclip or some mark on the message that it includes am attachment. I have to open every message and scan to the bottom to see if I have an attachment, THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM. I hope someone at Apple is assigned to work on this.

Exact same issue here as well on both my 5k iMac and 15" Retina MacBook Pro. Only happened after I upgraded to Sierra. Tried Apple support with no luck other then saying I should do a clean install. Not going to happen. Just did the latest update today to Sierra 10.12.2 and the problem is still there, no fix.

I've the same problem, the old "Lion solution" (the one with setting a filter) won't work.

Same here. I had attachments until September. I'm told in another forum that it's a Sierra issues that is still unresolved.
