AU peak limiter freezing garageband '11

When I try to change the settings of the au peak limiter on master track, the box that pops up (with the settings) starts flashing and and that mac mouse loading circle appears.

I am not able to do anything on garageband after that and I have to force quit.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Mac Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12)

Hi NiceMabz,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like the Garageband software is freezing and forces you to force quit to relaunch the app. I would recommend you read these articles, they may be able to help troubleshoot the issue.

I have exactly the same fault and followed the "fault" instructions. I didn't think this would fix it and it hasn't. Please assist.
