I was wondering if there was a way to save a Quicktime movie that requires the internet (ex. The Macworld 2006 presentation from the Apple site) such that it won't require the internet so I can view it WHEREVER I am?
Thanks in advance.
iBook G4, MacBook Pro 2.16 Intel C2D / 1G RAM / 120GB,
Mac OS X (10.4.8)
"Streaming media" isn't cached (like a downloaded file would be) so there is no way to save the downloaded file as a "Favorite" would do.
You set the size of your download cache by setting preferences in the QuickTime System Preferences.
Any other QuickTime format would be "saved" in the cache (size you set) and you can mark them as "Favorites" and even view offline (from that cache).
The cache will drop the oldest viewed file first when your size limit is reached.
But I've seen some movies on the net of the Macworld 2006 from the Apple site, they would have to SAVE it first right?...How, step by step, would you upload Macworld onto the net then?
True "streaming" media requires an Internet connection. They are served (usually via RTSP) from special streaming server software.
Only the owners of the file have a copy (in theory).
